It was a wake up call - Dallas. Government sleeps when thugs rule the country

Channel 4 documentary "Sri Lanka's Killing Fields" becomes a reality. The spoke person for Sri Lanka Government's ruling political alliance UPFA (United Peoples Freedom Alliance) Dallas Allahappruma said that the shooting incident that took place in the Mulleriyawa was a "wake up call" for the party. People wonder whether the government of Sri Lanka was sleeping when thugs were ruling the country despite continuous call by people, media and members of parliament to take preventive measures to stop ongoing crimes by underworld and political armed gangs?

People question where was the minister and his party members when UNP Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekera was alarming in the parliament on same criminals in the same area. MP Dayasiri slammed govt for crimes by armed gangs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srhe4fDmFSE. What actions did the party and the government take to prevent the violence by armed gangs? After failing to maintain law and order of the country and failing to provide safety of people Minister should be ashamed to evade accountability for negligence by people's representatives by issuing empty media statements.

People of Sri Lanka like to see government conduct an impartial invetigations and take perpetrators to justice same way they brought General Sarath Fonseka to justice. As president Rajapaksa applied law to political rivals saying "No one is above the law" the same treatment should be given to friendly politicians showing the same determination to maintain law and order. People voted in masses for good governance and not for thugs to run the country. People around the world watch at Sri Lanka and Government should respect human rights and maintain law and order of the country before it become another Egypt, Libya, Tunesia and Syria

Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told thorough investigation would be conducted into the incident and therefore the party could not disclose any information till the investigations are over. When there was action when MP Dayasiri alarmed in the parliaent, instead he was removed from the parliament; how on earth Minister Allahapperuma want people of Sri Lanka to believe what he preach:

"Strict rules are in place that policeman or the Ministerial Security Division officials present should have been in uniform and carrying identification. However there is really no point in finding out who fired the first shot. This is really a catastrophe for us,"

It is not a catastrophe, it is usual thuggery by one to another and world can imagine the fate of the common people!

When questioned on why action was not taken against the persons prior to the election, when reports of their misconduct were received sooner, Mr. Alahapperuma defended the party action by stating that such punitive action would have disrupted campaigning:

"In the past as well we have taken action after the elections. If we took action before that it would have caused an unfair disruption to the campaigning activities of our candidates...there was no division in the party or any conflicts between the alliance partners"

It seems Sri Lanka's only politician who dared criticise corruption, crimes and nepotism was General Fonska. Even he couldnt avoid betraying the country. So when can Sri Lankans enjoy real democracy and freedom?

  1. Can you believe democratically elected politicians of Sri Lanka kill each other? Can you believe thugs rule the country while government sleeps? Can you believe those two members of parliament who shot each other are not only best friends of President Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa but also advisors? Can you expect justice or law and order in Sri Lanka shall be maintained when rulers are allowed to abuse law and get away easily? Stand against violence!
